    [niv] When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.
    [asv] For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof;  But by men of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

    [niv] A ruler who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.
    [asv] A needy man that oppresseth the poor  Is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

    [jnd] Whoso observeth the law is a son that hath understanding; but he that is a companion of profligates bringeth shame to his father.
    [kjv] Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

    [niv] He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.
    [asv] He that augmenteth his substance by interest and increase,  Gathereth it for him that hath pity on the poor.  
    [jnd] He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance gathereth it for him that is gracious to the poor.
    [kjv] He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

    [asv] He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law,  Even his prayer is an abomination.

    [niv] He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.
    [asv] Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way,  He shall fall himself into his own pit;  But the perfect shall inherit good.  
    [jnd] Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, shall himself fall into his own pit; but the perfect shall inherit good.
    [kjv] Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

    [niv] He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
    [asv] He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper:  But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.  
    [jnd] He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh shall obtain mercy.

    [asv] Happy is the man that feareth alway;  But he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

    [niv] A man tormented by the guilt of murder will be a fugitive till death; let no one support him.
    [asv] A man that is laden with the blood of any person  Shall flee unto the pit; let no man stay him.  
    [jnd] A man laden with the blood of person, fleeth to the pit: let no man stay him.
    [kjv] A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

    [asv] He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread;  But he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.  
    [jnd] He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless shall have poverty enough.

    [asv] A faithful man shall abound with blessings;  But he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.

    [asv] To have respect of persons is not good;  Neither that a man should transgress for a piece of bread.

    [kjv] He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

    [niv] He who robs his father or mother and says, "It's not wrong"-- he is partner to him who destroys.
    [asv] Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression,  The same is the companion of a destroyer.

    [niv] A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
    [asv] He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife;  But he that putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be made fat.  
    [jnd] He that is puffed up in soul exciteth contention; but he that relieth upon Jehovah shall be made fat.
    [kjv] He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
    [nwb] He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

    [asv] He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool;  But whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
