    [niv] He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men.
    [asv] saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, and regarded not man:

    [kjv] Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
    [nwb] Saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, neither regarded man.

18:3 [cbgb] 那城里有个寡妇,常到他那里,说,我有一个对头,求你给我伸冤。 < | >
    [niv] And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, `Grant me justice against my adversary.'
    [asv] and there was a widow in that city; and she came oft unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
    [jnd] and there was a widow in that city, and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adverse party.
    [kjv] And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

    [rsv] and there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, 'Vindicate me against my adversary.'

18:4 [cbgb] 他多日不准。后来心里说,我虽不惧帕 神,也不尊重世人。 < | >
    [niv] "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, `Even though I don't fear God or care about men,
    [asv] And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
    [jnd] And he would not for a time; but afterwards he said within himself, If even I fear not God and respect not man,
    [kjv] And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

18:5 [cbgb] 只因这寡妇烦扰我,我就给他伸冤吧。免得他常来缠磨我。 < | >
    [niv] yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!'"
    [asv] yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest she wear me out by her continual coming.
    [jnd] at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me.
    [kjv] Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

    [niv] And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says.
    [asv] And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith.

    [niv] And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
    [asv] And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them?
    [jnd] And shall not God at all avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, and he bears long as to them?
    [kjv] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
    [nwb] And will not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night to him, though he beareth long with them?
    [rsv] And will not God vindicate his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?
    [web] Won't God avenge his elect, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
    [ylt] and shall not God execute the justice to His choice ones, who are crying unto Him day and night -- bearing long in regard to them?
    [bbe] And will not God do right in the cause of his saints, whose cries come day and night to his ears, though he is long in doing it?

    [niv] I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
    [asv] I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
    [jnd] I say unto you that he will avenge them speedily. But when the Son of man comes, shall he indeed find faith on the earth?

    [niv] To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:
    [asv] And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought:

18:12 [cbgb] 我一个礼拜禁食两次,凡我所得的,都捐上十分之一。 < | >
    [niv] I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
    [asv] I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get.

    [niv] "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, `God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
    [asv] But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner.
    [jnd] And the tax-gatherer, standing afar off, would not lift up even his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, have compassion on me, the sinner.
    [kjv] And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

    [bbe] The tax-farmer, on the other hand, keeping far away, and not lifting up even his eyes to heaven, made signs of grief and said, God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

    [niv] "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
    [asv] I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
    [jnd] I say unto you, This went down to his house justified rather than that . For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

    [niv] People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them.

    [niv] I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
    [asv] Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.

    [niv] A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
    [asv] And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
    [jnd] And a certain ruler asked him saying, Good teacher, having done what, shall I inherit eternal life?
    [kjv] And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

    [bbe] And a certain ruler put a question to him, saying, Good Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life?
18:19 [cbgb] 耶稣对他说,你为什麽称我是良善的,除了 神一位之外,再没有良善的。 < | >
    [niv] "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone.
    [asv] And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, even God.

    [niv] You know the commandments: `Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.' "
    [asv] Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother.

    [bbe] You have knowledge of what the law says: Do not be untrue to your wife, Do not put anyone to death, Do not take what is not yours, Do not give false witness, Give honour to your father and mother.

    [niv] "All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.
    [asv] And he said, All these things have I observed from my youth up.

18:22 [cbgb] 耶稣听见了,就说,你还缺少一件,要变卖你一切所有的,分给穷人,就必有财宝在天上。你还要来跟从我。 < | >
    [niv] When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
    [asv] And when Jesus heard it, he said unto him, One thing thou lackest yet: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
    [jnd] And when Jesus had heard this, he said to him, One thing is lacking to thee yet: Sell all that thou hast and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow me.
    [kjv] Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

    [ylt] and having heard these things, Jesus said to him, `Yet one thing to thee is lacking; all things -- as many as thou hast -- sell, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come, be following me;'
    [bbe] And Jesus, hearing it, said to him, One thing you still have need of; get money for your goods, and give it away to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; and come after me.

    [niv] When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.
    [asv] But when he heard these things, he became exceeding sorrowful; for he was very rich.
