6:2 [cbgb] 就是人蒙 神赐他赀财,丰富,尊荣,以致他心里所愿的一样都不缺,只是 神使他不能吃用,反有外人来吃用。这是虚空,也是祸患。 < | >
    [niv] God gives a man wealth, possessions and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires, but God does not enable him to enjoy them, and a stranger enjoys them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.
    [asv] a man to whom God giveth riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacketh nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but an alien eateth it; this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
    [jnd] one to whom God giveth riches, wealth, and honour, and he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and a sore evil.

6:3 [cbgb] 人若生一百个儿子,活了许多岁数,以致他的年日甚多,心里却不得满享福乐,又不得埋葬。据我说,那不到期而落的胎比他倒好。 < | >
    [niv] A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.
    [asv] If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul be not filled with good, and moreover he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he:

    [bbe] If a man has a hundred children, and his life is long so that the days of his years are great in number, but his soul takes no pleasure in good, and he is not honoured at his death; I say that a birth before its time is better than he.
6:4 [cbgb] 因为虚虚而来,暗暗而去,名字被黑暗遮蔽。 < | >
    [niv] It comes without meaning, it departs in darkness, and in darkness its name is shrouded.
    [asv] for it cometh in vanity, and departeth in darkness, and the name thereof is covered with darkness;
    [jnd] For it cometh in vanity, and departeth in darkness, and its name is covered with darkness;
    [kjv] For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness.
    [nwb] For he cometh with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness.

6:5 [cbgb] 并且没有见过天日,也无知觉。这胎,比那人倒享安息。 < | >
    [niv] Though it never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man--
    [asv] moreover it hath not seen the sun nor known it; this hath rest rather than the other:

6:6 [cbgb] 那人虽然活千年,再活千年,却不享福,众人岂不都归一个地方去麽? < | >
    [niv] even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his prosperity. Do not all go to the same place?
    [asv] yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, and yet enjoy no good, do not all go to one place?
    [jnd] Yea, though he live twice a thousand years, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?

6:7 [cbgb] 人的劳碌都为口腹,心里却不知足。 < | >
    [niv] All man's efforts are for his mouth, yet his appetite is never satisfied.
    [asv] All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.
    [jnd] All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

    [niv] What advantage has a wise man over a fool? What does a poor man gain by knowing how to conduct himself before others?
    [asv] For what advantage hath the wise more than the fool? or what hath the poor man, that knoweth how to walk before the living?
    [jnd] For what advantage hath the wise above the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living?

6:9 [cbgb] 眼睛所看的,比心里妄想的倒好。这也是虚空,也是捕风。 < | >
    [niv] Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
    [asv] Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this also is vanity and a striving after wind.
    [jnd] Better is the seeing of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this also is vanity and pursuit of the wind.
    [kjv] Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

    [niv] Whatever exists has already been named, and what man is has been known; no man can contend with one who is stronger than he.
    [asv] Whatsoever hath been, the name thereof was given long ago; and it is know what man is; neither can he contend with him that is mightier than he.
    [jnd] That which is hath already been named; and what man is, is known, and that he cannot contend with him that is mightier than he.
    [kjv] That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.
    [nwb] That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.
    [rsv] Whatever has come to be has already been named, and it is known what man is, and that he is not able to dispute with one stronger than he.

6:11 [cbgb] 加增虚浮的事既多,这与人有什么益处呢? < | >
    [niv] The more the words, the less the meaning, and how does that profit anyone?
    [asv] Seeing there are many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
    [jnd] For there are many things that increase vanity: what is man advantaged?
    [kjv] Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
    [nwb] Seeing there are many things that increase vanity, what man the better?
    [rsv] The more words, the more vanity, and what is man the better?
    [web] For there are many words that create vanity. What does that profit man?
    [ylt] For there are many things multiplying vanity; what advantage to man?
    [bbe] There are words without number for increasing what is to no purpose, but what is man profited by them?
6:12 [cbgb] 人一生虚度的日子,就如影儿经过。谁知道什么与他有益呢?谁能告诉他身后在日光之下有什么事呢? <
    [niv] For who knows what is good for a man in life, during the few and meaningless days he passes through like a shadow? Who can tell him what will happen under the sun after he is gone?
    [asv] For who knoweth what is good for man in his life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
    [jnd] For who knoweth what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell man what shall be after him under the sun?
    [kjv] For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
