		[niv]	Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed-- and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors-- and they have no comforter.
		[asv]	Then I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and, behold, the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.

		[niv]	And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive.
		[asv]	Wherefore I praised the dead that have been long dead more than the living that are yet alive;

		[niv]	But better than both is he who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.
		[asv]	yea, better than them both did I esteem him that hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

	4:4	[cbgb]	我又见人为一切的劳碌，和各样灵巧的工作，就被邻舍嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风。 < | >
		[niv]	And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man's envy of his neighbor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
		[asv]	Then I saw all labor and every skilful work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
		[jnd]	And I saw all labour, and all success of work, that it is man's jealousy of his neighbour. This also is vanity and pursuit of the wind.
		[kjv]	Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

		[asv]	Better is a handful, with quietness, than two handfuls with labor and striving after wind.

	4:8	[cbgb]	有人孤单无二，无子，无兄，竟劳碌不息，眼目也不以钱财为足。（他说）我劳劳碌碌，刻苦自己，不享福乐，到底是为谁呢？这也是虚空，是极重的劳苦。 < | >
		[niv]	There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. "For whom am I toiling," he asked, "and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?" This too is meaningless-- a miserable business!
		[asv]	There is one that is alone, and he hath not a second; yea, he hath neither son nor brother; yet is there no end of all his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with riches. For whom then, saith he, do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This also is vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.
		[jnd]	There is one and without a second; also he hath neither son nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour, neither is his eye satisfied with riches, and , For whom then am I labouring, and depriving my soul of good? This also is vanity and a grievous occupation.

		[rsv]	a person who has no one, either son or brother, yet there is no end to all his toil, and his eyes are never satisfied with riches, so that he never asks, "For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?" This also is vanity and an unhappy business.
		[web]	There is one who is alone, and he has neither son nor brother. There no end to all of his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with wealth. For whom then, do I labor, and deprive my soul of enjoyment? This also is vanity, yes, it is a miserable business.

		[bbe]	It is one who is by himself, without a second, and without son or brother; but there is no end to all his work, and he has never enough of wealth. For whom, then, am I working and keeping myself from pleasure? This again is to no purpose, and a bitter work.

		[niv]	If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
		[asv]	For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth, and hath not another to lift him up.

		[niv]	Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
		[asv]	Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one be warm alone?

		[niv]	Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
		[asv]	And if a man prevail against him that is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

		[niv]	Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to take warning.
		[asv]	Better is a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king, who knoweth not how to receive admonition any more.

		[niv]	The youth may have come from prison to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom.
		[asv]	For out of prison he came forth to be king; yea, even in his kingdom he was born poor.
		[jnd]	For out of the prison-house he came forth to reign, although he was born poor in his kingdom.
		[kjv]	For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.
		[nwb]	For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also born in his kingdom becometh poor.
		[rsv]	even though he had gone from prison to the throne or in his own kingdom had been born poor.

	4:15	[cbgb]	我见日光之下一切行动的活人，都随从那第二位，就是起来替老王的少年人。 < | >
		[niv]	I saw that all who lived and walked under the sun followed the youth, the king's successor.
		[asv]	I saw all the living that walk under the sun, that they were with the youth, the second, that stood up in his stead.
		[jnd]	I saw all the living that walk under the sun, with the child, the second, that should stand up in his stead.
		[kjv]	I considered all the living which walk under the sun, with the second child that shall stand up in his stead.

		[niv]	There was no end to all the people who were before them. But those who came later were not pleased with the successor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
		[asv]	There was no end of all the people, even of all them over whom he was: yet they that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a striving after wind.
		[jnd]	no end of all the people, of all that stood before them; those however that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a striving after the wind.
