    [bbe] And it came about on one of those days, when he was teaching the people in the Temple and preaching the good news,
20:2 [cbgb] 问他说,你告诉我们,你仗着什么权柄作这些事,给你这权柄的是谁呢? < | >
    [niv] "Tell us by what authority you are doing these things," they said. "Who gave you this authority?"
    [asv] and they spake, saying unto him, Tell us: By what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
    [jnd] and spoke to him saying, Tell us by what authority thou doest these things, or who is it who has given thee this authority?
    [kjv] And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
    [nwb] And spoke to him, saying, Tell us, By what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
    [rsv] and said to him, "Tell us by what authority you do these things, or who it is that gave you this authority."
    [web] They asked him, "Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?"
    [ylt] and spake unto him, saying, `Tell us by what authority thou dost these things? or who is he that gave to thee this authority?'
    [bbe] That the chief priests and the scribes and the rulers of the people came to him and said, Make clear to us by what authority you do these things and who gave you this authority.
20:3 [cbgb] 耶稣回答说,我也要问你们一句话。你们且告诉我。 < | >
    [niv] He replied, "I will also ask you a question. Tell me,
    [asv] And he answered and said unto them, I also will ask you a question; and tell me:

    [niv] They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, `From heaven,' he will ask, `Why didn't you believe him?'
    [asv] And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why did ye not believe him?
    [jnd] And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say, Why have ye not believed him?
    [kjv] And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?
    [nwb] And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

    [ylt] And they reasoned with themselves, saying -- `If we may say, From heaven, he will say, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?
    [bbe] And they said among themselves, If we say, From heaven; he will say, Why did you not have faith in him?
20:6 [cbgb] 若说从人间来,百姓都要用石头打死我们。因为他们信约翰是先知。 < | >
    [niv] But if we say, `From men,' all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet."
    [asv] But if we shall say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
    [jnd] but if we should say, Of men, the whole people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
    [kjv] But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

    [niv] So they answered, "We don't know where it was from."
    [asv] And they answered, that they knew not whence it was.

    [niv] Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."

    [niv] He went on to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time.

20:10 [cbgb] 到了时候,打发一个仆人到园户那里去,叫他们把园中当纳的果子交给他。园户竟打了他,叫他空手回去。 < | >
    [niv] At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
    [asv] And at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.
    [jnd] And in the season he sent to the husbandmen a bondman, that they might give to him of the fruit of the vineyard; but the husbandmen, having beaten him, sent away empty.
    [kjv] And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

    [bbe] And at the right time he sent a servant to the workers to get part of the fruit from the vines; but the workmen gave him blows and sent him away with nothing.

    [niv] He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed.
    [asv] And he sent yet another servant: and him also they beat, and handled him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
    [jnd] And again he sent another bondman; but they, having beaten him also, and cast insult upon him, sent away empty.
    [kjv] And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

    [niv] He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.
    [asv] And he sent yet a third: and him also they wounded, and cast him forth.
    [jnd] And again he sent a third; and they, having wounded him also, cast out.

20:13 [cbgb] 园主说,我怎麽办呢?我要打发我的爱子去。或者他们尊敬他。 < | >
    [niv] "Then the owner of the vineyard said, `What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.'
    [asv] And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will reverence him.
    [jnd] And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: perhaps when they see him they will respect .
    [kjv] Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.
    [nwb] Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be when they see him they will reverence him.
    [rsv] Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will respect him.'
    [web] The lord of the vineyard said, 'What will I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.'
    [ylt] `And the owner of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my son -- the beloved, perhaps having seen this one, they will do reverence;
    [bbe] And the lord of the garden said, What am I to do? I will send my dearly loved son; they may give respect to him.
20:14 [cbgb] 他不料,园户刻见他,就彼此商量说,这是承受产业的。我们杀他吧,使产业归于我们。 < | >
    [niv] "But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. `This is the heir,' they said. `Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'
    [asv] But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
    [jnd] But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours.
    [kjv] But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

    [web] But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.'
    [ylt] and having seen him, the husbandmen reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, we may kill him, that the inheritance may become ours;
    [bbe] But when the workmen saw him, they said to one another, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property: let us put him to death and the heritage will be ours.
20:15 [cbgb] 于是把他推出葡萄园外杀了。这样,葡萄园的主人,要怎样处治他们呢? < | >
    [niv] So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
    [asv] And they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
    [jnd] And having cast him forth out of the vineyard, they killed . What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do to them?
    [kjv] So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
    [nwb] So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed . What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
    [rsv] And they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
    [web] They threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
    [ylt] and having cast him outside of the vineyard, they killed ; what, then, shall the owner of the vineyard do to them?
    [bbe] And driving him out of the garden they put him to death. Now what will the lord do to these workmen?
20:16 [cbgb] 他要求除灭这些园户,将葡萄园转给别人。听见的人说,这是万不可的。 < | >
    [niv] He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When the people heard this, they said, "May this never be!"
    [asv] He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.
    [jnd] He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it they said, May it never be!
    [kjv] He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

    [rsv] He will come and destroy those tenants, and give the vineyard to others." When they heard this, they said, "God forbid!"
    [web] He will come and destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others."When they heard it, they said, "God forbid!"
    [ylt] He will come, and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.' And having heard, they said, `Let it not be!'
    [bbe] He will come and put them to destruction and give the garden to others. And when he said this, they said, May it not be so.
20:17 [cbgb] 耶稣看着他们说,经上记着,匠人所弃的石头,已作了房角的头块石头。这是什么意思呢? < | >
    [niv] Jesus looked directly at them and asked, "Then what is the meaning of that which is written: "`The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone ' ?
    [asv] But he looked upon them, and said, What then is this that is written,  The stone which the builders rejected,  The same was made the head of the corner?
    [jnd] But he looking at them said, What then is this that is written, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone?
    [kjv] And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
    [nwb] And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
    [rsv] But he looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: 'The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner'?
    [web] . But he looked at them, and said, "Then what is this that is written,'The stone which the builders rejected,The same was made the chief cornerstone?'
    [ylt] and he, having looked upon them, said, `What, then, is this that hath been written: A stone that the builders rejected -- this became head of a corner?
    [bbe] But he, looking on them, said, Is it not in the Writings, The stone which the builders put on one side, the same has become the chief stone of the building?
20:18 [cbgb] 凡掉在那石头上的,必要跌碎。那石头掉在谁的身上,就要把谁砸得稀烂。 < | >
    [niv] Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."
    [asv] Every one that falleth on that stone shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.
    [jnd] Every one falling on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.
    [kjv] Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
    [nwb] Whoever shall fall upon that stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
    [rsv] Every one who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but when it falls on any one it will crush him."
    [web] . "Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but it will crush whoever it falls on to dust."
    [ylt] every one who hath fallen on that stone shall be broken, and on whom it may fall, it will crush him to pieces.'
    [bbe] Everyone falling on that stone will be broken, but the man on whom the stone comes down will be crushed to dust.

    [niv] The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.
    [asv] And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him in that very hour; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he spake this parable against them.
    [jnd] And the chief priests and the scribes sought the same hour to lay hands on him, and they feared the people; for they knew that he had spoken this parable of them.
    [kjv] And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

    [rsv] The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on him at that very hour, but they feared the people; for they perceived that he had told this parable against them.
    [web] The chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on Him that very hour, but they feared the people -- for they knew He had spoken this parable against them.
    [ylt] And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him in that hour, and they feared the people, for they knew that against them he spake this simile.
    [bbe] And the chief priests and the scribes made attempts to get their hands on him in that very hour; and they were in fear of the people, for they saw that he had made up this story against them.
20:20 [cbgb] 于是窥探耶稣,打发奸细装作好人,要在他的话上得把柄,好将他交在巡抚的政权之下。 < | >
    [niv] Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.
    [asv] And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who feigned themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his speech, so as to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor.
    [jnd] And having watched , they sent out suborned persons, pretending to be just men, that they might take hold of him in language, so that they might deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.
    [kjv] And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
    [nwb] And they watched , and sent forth spies, who should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor.
    [rsv] So they watched him, and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might take hold of what he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.
    [web] They watched him, and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor.
    [ylt] And, having watched , they sent forth liers in wait, feigning themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his word, to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor,
    [bbe] And they kept watch on him, and sent out secret representatives, who were acting the part of good men, in order that they might get something from his words, on account of which they might give him up to the government and into the power of the ruler.
20:21 [cbgb] 奸细就问耶稣说,夫子,我们晓得你所讲所传都是正道,也不取人的外貌,乃是诚诚实实传 神的道。 < | >
    [niv] So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
    [asv] And they asked him, saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest not the person of any, but of a truth teachest the way of God:
    [jnd] And they asked him saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest no person, but teachest with truth the way of God:
    [kjv] And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
    [nwb] And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person , but teachest the way of God truly:
    [rsv] They asked him, "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and show no partiality, but truly teach the way of God.
    [web] They asked him, "Teacher, we know that you say and teach what is right, and aren't partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God.
    [ylt] and they questioned him, saying, `Teacher, we have known that thou dost say and teach rightly, and dost not accept a person, but in truth the way of God dost teach;
    [bbe] And they put a question to him, saying, Master, we are certain that your teaching and your words are right, and that you have no respect for a man's position, but you are teaching the true way of God:
20:22 [cbgb] 我们纳税给该撒,可以不可以。 < | >
    [niv] Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
    [asv] Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
    [jnd] Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

    [nwb] Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Cesar, or not?

    [asv] But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them,
    [jnd] But perceiving their deceit he said to them, Why do ye tempt me?

    [niv] "Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?"
    [asv] Show me a denarius. Whose image and superscription hath it? And they said, Caesar's.
